Summary:

The DCOS Delivery Engineer is a highly technical, cross-functional leadership role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the Data Centre Operating System (DCOS) and its seamless integration with the Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platform across global greenfield and live-retrofit data center projects. Acting as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for controls commissioning, the role bridges advanced system engineering with program management - ensuring that automated systems are commissioned, validated, and handed over to the highest operational standards.

This role suits a versatile professional with deep controls engineering expertise and proven leadership in mission-critical environments. You will drive the performance of system integrators, commissioning agents, and cross-functional stakeholders while following and continuously improving the policies, procedures, and standardized libraries that underpin DCOS delivery at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

DCOS Commissioning / End-to-End Delivery

Lead and manage the full commissioning lifecycle: Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Pre-Functional Testing (PFT), Functional Performance Testing (FPT), and Integrated System Testing (IST)

Manage detailed commissioning plans, test scripts, and checklists for each phase; compile and present comprehensive reports at every stage

Oversee inspection and verification of DCOS components against design specifications; validate network configurations, including IP addressing and VLAN setup

Manage stress testing, redundancy tests, and final validation to confirm DCOS performance meets handover criteria

Verify accurate data logging, alarm configuration, and trend analysis to support operational readiness

DCIM Integration & Onboarding

Execute detailed integration plans for DCOS-to-DCIM connectivity, ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability

Read and interpret single-line drawings to build customer-facing hierarchy structures for DCIM onboarding

Navigate the DCOS head end to validate DCIM tag points, confirm alarm alignment, and ensure configurations comply with established commissioning standards

Verify system-level calculations, including resiliency scripts, utility power, and PUE; ensure BCM and Battery Monitoring systems are operational prior to DCIM onboarding

Coordinate with multiple operational teams and on-site stakeholders to achieve successful DCIM go-live; manage prerequisites and go-live checklists from initiation through to completion

Controls System Engineering & Technical Expertise

Apply expert-level knowledge of DDC systems, PLCs, DCS platforms, and SCADA/BMS architectures to rapidly comprehend and troubleshoot new and existing systems

Provide advanced diagnostics and remediation across electrical, mechanical, fire protection, and HVAC systems as they relate to controls requirements

Develop and maintain standardized programming modules, sequences of operations, graphics, and reporting tools; provide structured feedback and consultation to library management teams

Assess design choices and their downstream impact on controls requirements and cost; make system-level enhancement recommendations to eliminate potential failure modes

Leverage data collection and conversion platforms - including Kepware, Matrikon, TopView, OSIsoft PI, or equivalents - for monitoring, diagnostics, and performance analytics

Policy, Standards & Compliance

Follow established commissioning policies and procedures rigorously, identifying opportunities to improve and refine them based on project experience and lessons learned

Assure adherence to standards through documentation reviews, participation in commissioning activities, and data center physical inspections

Drive specification uplift initiatives across general commissioning involving DCIM; contribute to the evolution of global standards and best practices

Compile high-level compliance summaries and reporting for senior leadership and program governance

Project & Program Management

Communicate effectively with construction managers, general contractors, system integrators, design teams, and equipment suppliers across all project phases

Maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and progress tracking tools; provide regular program metrics and data analytics to internal stakeholders

Manage Software Factory Acceptance Test oversight and vendor accountability throughout project execution

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

Act as DCOS SME for internal and external stakeholders, including commissioning teams, regional operations, design engineering, and vendors.

Provide clear, structured briefings to senior management and cross-functional teams on commissioning prerequisites, program status, and go-live readiness

Mentor and direct junior team members, system integrators, and contractors; lead project teams including commissioning agents and equipment suppliers

Collaborate across business units to gather integration requirements, align activities, and resolve issues with timely and transparent communication

Training, Handover & Knowledge Transfer

Drive system integrators to conduct comprehensive training sessions for data center staff on DCOS operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance

Assist commissioning teams in preparing and delivering operational manuals, training materials, and as-built documentation

Compile and present a complete handover report summarizing the commissioning process, validation outcomes, and final system configurations

Share controls system design, operations, and project planning expertise broadly with the wider facilities organization to elevate team capability and optimize operations

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential

Proven experience in data center controls and automation, commissioning, or mission-critical facility management, with a strong emphasis on controls engineering

Proven leadership experience in mission-critical environments (data centers, power generation, oil & gas, or equivalent)

Expert knowledge of DDC systems, PLCs, DCS, and SCADA/BMS platforms - including debugging, programming, and advanced diagnostics

Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end commissioning phases (FAT, SAT, PFT, FPT, IST) on large-scale projects

Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, fire protection, and HVAC systems as they relate to controls requirements

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to compose technical papers, position papers, and executive-level reports

Preferred / Advantageous

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline; equivalent trade certification considered

Hands-on, expert-level experience with Aveva (formerly Wonderware)

Experience with additional control platforms such as Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Siemens, or Delta Controls

Experience with data collection and conversion software: Kepware, Matrikon, TopView, OSIsoft PI, or equivalent

Hands-on experience with DCIM platforms and DCOS integration.
